Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) released the 2017 California Advanced Homes Program (CAHP). This program was developed to give builder’s incentives for energy efficient new homes. The program now focuses on the Energy Design Rating (EDR) which is compiled in the 2016 Title 24 Part 6 Energy Calculations which are completed by a Certified Energy Analyst (CEA). That number is used to configure the CAHP EDR. The closer the home’s EDR is to zero, the more incentives the builder receives. To qualify the minimum CAHP EDR for the climate zone – 48 for coastal homes and 44 for inland homes. There are also now certain energy efficiency measures that are eligible for additional incentive kickers (per home) to lower your EDR too. Other good news…the 2017 program now allows per plan to qualify and not entire projects!
