Residential New Construction’s California Advanced Home Program (CAHP)
The Pacific Gas and Electric Company, Southern California Edison, Southern California Gas Company and San Diego Gas and Electric (all are Investor Owned Utilities – IOU) have collaborated to once again offer the Residential New Construction California Advanced Home Program (CAHP). This program focuses on energy efficiency, sustainable design and construction, green building practices and emerging technologies. The program was developed to support California’s efforts for new homes to reach Zero Net Energy (ZNE) by 2020 and to help builders prepare for upcoming code changes by building homes that exceed the current building code compliance ahead of the curve. The Residential New Construction (CAHP) Program is open to single family, low-rise and high-rise multi-family residential (less than 4 stories) new construction built in an IOU service area. The minimum performance requirement is a CAHP score of 84. The estimated incentives rise incrementally as the performance of the building increases.
